The second annual Global Network ATL, 6 February 2014, was a major step forward in putting together a program tailored to the needs of small business entering international markets. Jim Beach, Speaker, Radio Host, Best-Selling Author, and Entrepreneurship Expert, set the stage for our panel discussions with entertaining and inspiring stories and examples of steps and missteps. Erica Barrett’s talk on her journey in taking a small business abroad was an outstanding example of meeting the challenges of that business owners face in expanding business, especially into foreign markets. Our talented panelists answered a broad array of questions that provided insights into preparing to go global. Checklists were provided to guide participants in answering the questions: “Are You Ready to Be International?” and “Where In The World Is Right For You?” (These checklists are available in the “More Information” section of this web site.)
The speakers and panel discussions were made available to international participants through live-stream video. Real-time translation enabled remote participants to hear the proceedings in their own language.
During the day, Virtual Trade Missions were conducted via Skype with business people in Dublin, Ireland and Guayaquil, Ecuador. Information was exchanged and connections made. We’ll keep you posted on outcomes over the coming months.
Watch the newsletter for announcements of luncheons and trade missions. We’ll also be soliciting businesses to participate in our mentoring program. More on that in the coming weeks.
